Gouache Painting

Whenever my non-artist friends ask me what gouache is, I always call it the love child of watercolour and acrylic paint. It’s not see through like watercolour but can be reactivated unlike acrylic paint. I’m also a huge fan of the soft, matte texture that gouache has when it dries. For me it’s the perfect texture to layer coloured pencil on over the top of it.

The type of gouache I use is called Himi Gouache and I like to layer Fabre Castell polychromos and Prismacolour pencils on top.
